Tunable Resurfacing Laser
From superficial to deep peels, the unique Tunable Resurfacing Laser enables exceptional, patient-tuned outcomes by addressing a broad range of patient needs from the subtle to the dramatic, with superior uniformity and customizable thermal effects.
What is the Tunable Resurfacing Laser?
This type of laser surfacing can treat deeper skin imperfections and offers dramatic improvement. It is also used as a companion to invasive cosmetic surgeries, such as facelifts and eyelid surgery, as it removes deep set lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. TRL is an erbium: YAG resurfacing laser treatment used to dramatically improve the skin. It removes unwanted or damaged skin layer by layer with the ability to target deeper layers of tissue. With TRL, the physician or practitioner has complete control over the depth of the ablation making each patient’s treatment customized to his/her specific needs.
Benefits
With laser resurfacing, smoother complexions and younger looking skin are restored. It also provides patients with the following benefits:
- Stimulates the production of collagen
- Allows for more precise treatments
- Quick procedure
- Long-lasting results
- Little downtime or recovery
- Very little discomfort
How to prepare
With the exception of avoiding medications and supplements that thin the blood, the only other recommendation for preparation is to avoid direct sun exposure for a couple of weeks prior to your treatment. When outside, you should be sure to wear a hat and broad spectrum sunblock on your face. Prior to your treatments, we provide you with a topical ointment or serum to apply several days before your treatment.
What happens during treatment
The Tunable Resurfacing Laser treatment focuses on removing damaged skin layer by layer. When this happens, collagen production is stimulated, and new skin begins to grow which improves the overall quality of the skin. As it targets the damaged skin, the TRL does not harm surrounding healthy skin tissue since the laser is controlled by a well-trained aesthetician or physician. The TRL has the ability to go into the deep layers of the skin if necessary.
Laser resurfacing causes little to no discomfort since we can apply a topical numbing cream to make you more comfortable. Additionally, we also provide you with protective goggles to protect the eyes, especially when treating the areas around the eyes.
What To Expect After
Once laser resurfacing is complete, a mild serum is applied to soothe the treated areas. There may be some slight redness to the area as well as mild flaking. The amount is dependent on the extent of the treatment. There may be some mild tenderness where the treatment was done, but it usually lasts a day or two following the procedure. In terms of the flaking, we provide you with specific moisturizers to minimize its appearance. It is very important to continue to avoid direct sun exposure during the healing process, which takes several weeks to prevent any skin discoloration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR the TRL Laser?
A: The ideal candidate for laser resurfacing has significant damage from the sun and other factors, such as scarring, severe wrinkles, fine lines and creases in the skin. It works best on people with lighter skin tones and is also ideal for those who do not want to undergo laser treatments that require multiple sessions to achieve the desired look.
Q: HOW LONG DOES A TRL laser PROCEDURE TAKE?
A: Laser rejuvenation treatment varies in terms of time as it depends on how many areas are treated, the depth of the damage and whether it is performed with other treatments. Most treatments take no more than an hour to complete.
Q: WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?
A: Once the top layer of skin sloughs away and the new skin is visible, you will start to notice the results. The full results take about two months to become apparent. Because this is such a powerful treatment, it is very common for only one treatment to achieve your aesthetic goals. If another treatment is needed, it is spaced out a couple of months to allow the skin to fully heal from this treatment.
Q: WHAT IS THE COST OF A TRL LASER TREATMENT?
A: Laser skin resurfacing varies in terms of cost based on the area being treated, how much damage there is and how many treatments are needed. It may also involve other treatments or procedures being done at the same time. During your consultation, we will review all of the costs along with payment and financing options. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards in addition to offering financing through CareCredit®.
