Spider veins appear when the blood traveling through the veins tries to flow backward. This causes the veins to go to the surface of the skin and swell. A: It is recommended that you do not shave or apply lotion the day before treatment. If your treatment is planned for a future date, we recommend you avoid direct exposure from the sun on the area where the treatment is to be performed to protect the skin from developing dark pigmentation.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE APPOINTMENT?

A: With laser vein removal, we simply place a hand-held laser device directly on the visible veins. The laser light sends energy and heat to the veins, which causes them to collapse. At that point, no blood can pass through them and is rerouted to other veins. As the vein collapses, the blood dissipates and is no longer visible under the skin.

Q: HOW LONG DOES A SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT TAKE?

A: Most spider vein treatments take no more than 30 minutes to an hour to complete. Depending on the extent of the condition or the number of areas with visible spider veins, you may require several sessions to achieve the desired look.

A: With laser vein removal, the results are noticeable and get better over time. It takes about a month for the body to completely absorb the collapsed veins. At that point, there should be little to no sign of spider veins.
